Arusha Region Climatic Project
In Arusha urban, northern Tanzania, groundwater contributes about 80% of the water supply. However, elevated fluoride levels and evidence of anthropogenic pollution have been reported in the groundwater around Mount Meru which is a water source for Arusha urban. This study aims at understanding the recharge areas and flow pathways of groundwater in what has been a poorly monitored area.
In Arusha, the wet season is overcast and warm and the dry season is windy, comfortable, and partly cloudy. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 56°F to 83°F and is rarely below 51°F or above 88°F.

In the Tarangire-Manyara ecosystem, extreme weather variations, exacerbated by climate change. Implemented by CARE Tanzania across Kiteto and Simanjiro districts, it focuses on Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) to mitigate water scarcity, drought, and land-use conflicts among pastoralists and farmers. this multi-million dollar project targets severe land degradation, sediment buildup, and the impacts of erratic weather on Lake Babati.
The Manyara Climate Projects encompass multiple ecological and community initiatives aimed at restoring degraded savannas and mitigating the severe impacts of climate change in the Tarangire-Manyara ecosystem. Key actions include removing unpalatable bush encroachment, rehabilitating thousands of acres of pasture, and empowering local women as promoters of sustainable land management
Hanang District Disaster Recovery: Climate Hub Tanzania has implemented post-disaster restoration in the region's Hanang District following severe El Niño-induced floods and landslides, focusing on repairing homes, latrines, and local resilience.
Manyara-Tarangire Ecosystem Project: Run by the Oikos Institute and partners, this pilot focuses on training women in pastoralist communities to promote sustainable pasture management and mitigate the economic risks of extreme weather variations
